Sprint and Samsung started rolling out the Android 2.2 OTA update for the Epic 4G, back in late February.
However, the update was pulled back within 3 days of its release due to many issues including corrupting a user’s SD card, bricking phones etcetera. Now, the folks over at Android Central have got their hands on some leaked internal Sprint document.
The document states that Sprint and Samsung will be rolling out a new Android 2.2 update for the Epic 4G owners.
Along with the Epic 4G, the Samsung Transform and the Galaxy Tab will also get OTA updates. The Transform will get the Android 2.2 update (EB28), while the Galaxy Tab will get a minor software update. All the updates will be rolled out via OTA (Over-The-Air) by Sprint, and hopefully won’t lead to any issues this time.
Apparently, the Epic 4G Android 2.2 update is scheduled to roll out to the general public starting from March 21st. Updates for the Galaxy Tab and the Transform will be rolled out soon after.
Hopefully, this rumor will turn out to be true and Epic 4G owners will finally get a taste of FroYo on their handset.
