Few days ago, Google unveiled the Samsung-manufactured-Google branded Nexus S along with the latest version of Android Gingerbread. Now, since the Nexus S is very similar to the Galaxy S line-up from Samsung, many people expected that the handset is eligible for Android 2.3 update. However, when Pocket-lint contacted Samsung the Korean giant gave a very diplomatic answer.
Here is what Sammy replied to Pocket-Lint-:
“Such a review will be based on various factors including, without limitation, the overall effect of such Update to Samsung products, the system requirements, the structural limitations, and the level of cooperation from the component suppliers and the software licensors.
If Samsung decides to make the Update available to the users after such consideration, Samsung will use its efforts to develop such Update, which may be released to the users upon successful completion of such development.
Pretty shocking eh? The Galaxy S series of handset from Samsung is one of the most popular Android handsets in the market right now. The Galaxy S hardware easily meets the minimum’ hardware requirements required for Android 2.3.
However, there is a twist in the tale. Samsung India have tweeted through their twitter account that the Galaxy S will be getting the Gingerbread update.
Hopefully, Samsung will come clean about the Android 2.3 update for the Galaxy S handset sooner than later.
