The Galaxy S handset series from Samsung were expected to get the Android 2.2 (Froyo) update by the end of last month. Sadly, Samsung failed to meet the said deadline and pushed the release back to the last week of October. This surely left all the Galaxy S users disappointed.
Nevertheless, Samsung Captivate AT&T’s variant of the Galaxy S owners should rejoice as the folks at XDA have managed to get hold of a leaked Android 2.2 firmware – I897UCJI6.
Most of the Captivate owners who flashed this leaked firmware have been downright impressed with it. Not only does this firmware improve the GPS performance of the device, it also enables Mobile AP (Access Point) feature! Flash 10.1 is pre-installed and works like a charm on heavy flash based websites.
There are many more nice changes in this leaked firmware and I would definitely suggest Captivate owners to flash to this firmware. Here is the link to the thread over at XDA Developers.
