RIM Unveils The BlackBerry 6 OS
Along with the BlackBerry Torch 9800, RIM also announced the BlackBerry 6. Yes, the name of the operating system has changed from BlackBerry OS 6 to just BlackBerry 6. The new OS from RIM is more touch-friendly and features more
eye-candy than any of its previous iterations. The new OS includes universal search, an all-new web-kit based HTML5 web browser, and social networking integration.
The new OS also integrates Wi-Fi music syncing. Users can view and sync their entire iTunes or Windows Media Player library right from their smartphone. There is also a brand new Podcast, and a YouTube application. RIM also promised that the BlackBerry Bold 9700, Bold 9650, and the Pearl 3G will get the BlackBerry 6 update in the coming months.
The BlackBerry 6 will make its debut on the Torch 9800, which is scheduled to release on 12 August.
