The Nokia N8 has hardly been available in the retail stores and Nokia has already released a firmware update for the device. The first firmware update for the N8 is numbered version 11.0.12. As of now, no official change-log is available from Nokia so we need to wait for the N8 users’ feedback on what all changes this firmware brings with it. The firmware update will be available via OTA (Over The Air) or via Nokia Software Updater (NSU).![]()
Since this will be the first firmware update for the N8, I expect it to bring a performance boost, fix some bugs and improve the stability of the device. Users, who already own an N8 don’t need to make a backup of their data prior to the firmware update since the handset features UDP (User Data Preservation). UDP will keep intact all the user data and applications even after the firmware update.

Update: Though this firmware is new, it is said to be shipping with the first set of Nokia N8 devices. However, users who already own a Nokia N8 device will receive this as an OTA update.
