Nokia 5800 Firmware v40 Changelog, Screenshots and Videos

Recently, Nokia released a new firmware update, version 40.0.005 for Nokia 5800. The latest firmware update comes with the much awaited kinetic scrolling and many new features such as a new home screen similar to that of Nokia 5530, contact & music widgets and so on.   • Kinetic scrolling
  • Home style widget with Nokia 5530
  • if you rotate the phone horizontally, it automatically activates the QWERTY keyboard
  • Refresh Icons “Sharing Online”, “Configuring Accessories”, “Configure Phone”
  • Improved application “Updating Applications”, which also renames Upgrade SW
  • The application “Data transfer” was also implemented in “Settings”
  • Real Player Updated
  • Touch more responsive
  • Slide to Unlock during call
  • Improved stability
  • New contact & music widget
  • Kinetic Scrolling is not available in main menu, application menu, browser.
  • Home Screen similar to that of Nokia 5530
  • Removed the alphanumeric keypad in landscape version, now when we turned the phone alphanumeric portrait changes to full qwerty
  • New screen alarm, but only when the screen is locked
  • New screen incoming call, also only when the screen is locked
  • Ovi Contacts installed
  • In the settings menu there is a new icon for ‘Phone Switch’

    I've downloaded the nokia software updater, but why it cannot start. there's only a messages will appears that the software updater currently not available… can you help me?
    I'm in indonesia, is there any chances that the software updater cannot start because the region? thanks please?

    BRothers if you want the camera to show good result then go to the options and set the scene mode to NIGHT PATRIOT
    and then observe the image and pls do clean the glass out of the camers!

    Hi.I live in south africa and have a nokia 5800.the provider only has the v3.1 firmware upgrade.will i be able to upgrade to V4.0 over net?The provider says that it might cause problems and that one cannot reinstate older firmware if there is a problem.Is this the case and what might be the problems-would I still be able to use the phone?

    i just update my 5800 to firmware 4
    how can i get the home screen like that???

    i mean like 5530 that mention above.
    because nothing change for my home screen still same interface like before..

    the only change is:
    1. "kinetic scroll" which ONLY works on LIST type, not for grip. expecially the app folder
    2. auto change key board that works well

      first of all go to settings > personal > Themes > home screen theme > AND CHECK CONTACT BAR, now u will get the 5530 effect

    Hi Omkar

    I am very much appauled by the new version but i am facing 2 very big problems. First i am not able to install any new themes dowloaded. I transfer them from my PC to may mob via blutooth. When i run the .sis file its gives error that intaller already in use,how that can be sorted. Second issue is the songs are not showing in my music player but are visible in file manager. I have also tried to option of "refresh library" but still no use. Plz assist.

    Recentaly my handset Nokia 5800 is updated with latest firmware v50 .Now i want to know if there is any way to swith off the shutter sound of camera while clicking a photo..Please help….How may i completely reinstall the OS in my Nokia 5800 from scratch…

    hi.. i hav purchased a nokia 5800 red with product code 0575590 two days ago… it shows software version v30… should i change to v40.. i am a bit confused because the set is new and i dont want to ruin it…is it advisable to change to v 40 so soon… and also can i change to v 50

    i currently have version 50.0.0.5 installed on my fone…i updated on 1st june..

    but i find the version 40.0.0.5 more handy and easy to use…the people at nokia care say that they cant degarde the software….can u guide me how i could do the same…

      It should be v50 now. Press / dial *#0000# then Options > Check Software Updates to check the available firmware update for your phone.
