Motorola Droid X Overclocked To 1.1 GHz
By on October 19th, 2010

The Droid X is already a beast of a phone. The handset is powered by a 1GHz OMAP processor and sports a huge 4.3-inch LCD screen. After the Android 2.2 update, the Droid X is among the fastest Android handsets out there. Well, fast was not enough for the Droid X modders and in a bid to make the phone the fastest Android phone out there, they have managed to overclock the X CPU to 1.1 GHz. Motorola_Droid_X

A 100 MHz boost may seem paltry for now, but we should keep in mind that this overclocking mod is still in its infant stage. As time passes, I expect the Droid X processor to reach the 1.2 – 1.4GHz mark.   The man who made this possible is FreeWELL. He took the Motorola Milestone overclocking technique and used it on the Droid X. Along with overclocking; Droid X owners can also underclock their CPU using SetCPU so as to preserve battery.

You can read more about the Droid X overclocking mod over at Droid-Life.

P.S. The Droid X could already be overclocked on Android 2.1, this mod specifically refers to Droid X running on Android 2.2
