Rumors are flying in that the Motorola Droid will be getting the Android 2.2 (Froyo) love from 13 July. The Android Eclair a.k.a Android 2.1 update for the Droid took quite sometime to be available widely. The release date of the update was pushed back numerous times, before being rolled out to various regions in the world.
Hopefully, Verizon and Motorola will not be doing the same with the Froyo update. The keyboard-less successor of the Droid the Droid X – will hit the retail stores on 15th July. Motorola had already said that the original Droid would get the Froyo update in July, while the Droid X will get the update in late August.
The Motorola Droid is one of the highest selling, and the most popular Android handset in the market. Even though the phone is old hardware-wise, it still sells like hot cakes.
