By on December 6th, 2011

Meizu, a company popularly known for releasing phones which look like an iPhone clone, has released its new flagship phone the Meizu’s MX. The MX sports a 4-inch ASV display with qHD (640×960) resolution. It is powered by the Exynos 4210 SoC clocked at 1.4GHz, which is a beast in every right!

Other than this, there is also 1GB of RAM, 16GB of on-board memory, a secondary microphone for noise cancellation, MHL port, S/PDIF out, Wi-Fi b/g/n, USB host capabilities, GPS with A-GPS, and a bunch of sensors.

At the back of this chinese handset is an 8MP F2.2 backside-illuminated sensor, which is capable of recording videos in Full HD (1080p) resolution. There is also a measly 0.3MP camera in the front for video-calling.   The MX also features a Meizu only innovation, the situation-aware bottom light keys. Support for DivX, Xvid, MKV, MP4 and AVI videos along with FLAC audio support is also baked right into the OS.

The Meizu MX runs on a heavily customized version of Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread, dubbed as Flyme OS by the company. The company has promised that the MX will get the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update next year as well. The MX will hit the retail stores on January 1 for ¥2,999 ($470). Thankfully, the handset has a pentaband 3G radio, which means users won’t need to bother about network compatibility issues with their phones when they fly international.

I must say these Chinese handset manufacturers have come a long way since making cheap iPhone replicas.
