However, this piece of news was shot down by Android team’s Dan Morrill. He said that the hardware requirement for Android 2.3 is very similar to Android 2.2 a.k.a Froyo.
Now, LG has announced via a press release that the Optimus One handset from the Korean company will definitely get the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update.
Here is what the company exactly said :
LG will upgrade all Optimus One smartphones currently using the Froyo OS to the next version of the Android OS, Gingerbread. Details of the upgrade schedule will be announced locally in due course. We sincerely apologize for the confusion and misunderstanding that was caused regarding this issue.
It is really nice to see LG providing software support for their low-end Android based handsets. Kudos to LG!
