LG has just announced via an email that they will soon be rolling out an ‘enhanced’ Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for the LG Optimus 3D.
Along with the update to Android 2.3 Gingerbread, the update will also bring enhanced copy & paste functionality, UI improvements and much more. LG states that the update will also bring enhanced HSPA+ speeds (up to 21Mbps), and an enriched 3D experience, thanks to a 3D video editor and a full-screen preview UI while capturing 3D content.
Post the update, Optimus 3D owners will also be able to record high-quality videos in 2D mode with video stabilization, which was previously available only in the 3D mode. The Gallery loading times have also been greatly reduced.
Other changes in the update include an improved battery life, longer MP3 playback time, and an improvement in the stability and performance of the phone.
LG will start rolling out the update to all the unlocked and un-branded Optimus 3D handsets in Europe beginning from November 21, followed by other markers until the end of the year.
Hopefully, next time LG will be much faster in updating their handsets to the latest version of Android. With Ice Cream Sandwich code going public, the time is already ticking and it will be interesting to see who will be the first manufacturer to release the Ice Cream Sandwich update for their phone.
