LG was one of the first Android smartphone makers to launch 3D smartphones. Though 3D on smartphones hasn’t really caught on, LG is still pushing it through its latest devices.
The LG Optimus 3D 2 will be much slimmer than the Optimus 3D, with its tapering form factor having a width of 11.9 to 9.8 mm. Rumors suggest that it will be powered by a 1.2 GHz dual core TI processor and will sport a dual-5 MP camera which can capture 3D images.
It will likely have 8 GB of internal storage and will come with support for Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and NFC. It will supposedly run Android 2.3 Gingerbread, which is a shame considering that all the new Android smartphones coming in 2012 will likely run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
It is expected to be launched in Korea first, in Q1 2012. It will be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona by the end of February.
