iPhone 3GS with OS 3.1.2 users, and users of older iPhone 2G and 3G phones and iPod Touch 1G/2G users, a new jailbreaking tool for iPhone called Sn0wbreeze has been released. This tool is similar to blackra1n and allows you to unlock and jailbreak your iPhone or iPod Touch.
Blackra1n users seem to face some issues when the battery runs out or when the iPhone/iTouch requires a restart. I have talked about a fix for the issue when you are asked to restore iPhone/iTouch on restarts earlier.
To jailbreak you iPhone or iPod touch using Sn0wbreeze, upgrade to the latest version of iTunes and run the app, use the Simple mode and follow the screens to create a new custom firmware for OS 3.1.2. After you have created the firmware, restore your iPhone or iPod touch using it and you are free from restrictions.
Sn0wbreeze lite currently supports the following devices
- iPhone 2G
- iPhone 3G
- iPhone 3G[S] – non MC
- iPod Touch 1G
- iPod Touch 2G – non MC
Sn0wbreeze is compatible with Windows 7 and can be downloaded here. (The site currently seems to be having some issues, hopefully it should be fixed soon.)
