@Hammad – Can you see the .zip extension? If not you will have to unhide the extension by following the steps below and then rename it

Here are the steps to unhide an file extension and rename it

      1. Open Windows Explorer
      2. Press Alt + T simultaneously and select Folder Options from the menu you see.
      3. Click on the View tab
      4. Uncheck the box next to “Hide extensions for known file types”
      5. Click Ok

You should now the extension for the file, simply click the and press F2 ( or right click on it and click Rename) and delete the zip and add IPSW, don’t delete the “.” from the filename. Windows will prompt you whether you want to change the extension as it may render the file unusable, just ignore it and you should be able to rename the file.

All this for a jailbreak? Seriously?
I suggest noone do any way out downloading. On your device go to jailbreakme.com … That’s it. All this is doing who knows what to your devices and or computers.

I’ve been trying to do this for a while. Latest version of iTunes (as of March, 2012) only has ios version 4.2.1 available. I did the manual download for my iPhone 3GS (download supposedly opens automatically in iTunes), but iTunes can’t find it, and just synchs to 4.2.1 again, and says that’s the latest version.

Lots of current apps require 4.3 now, and I can’t seem to get it. Considering that 4.3 is over a year old, any idea why iTunes can’t find it?

Any idea how I can update my iPhone?

    Thanks
