HTC today announced its latest Phone, HTC Hero. Its an Android based phone with almost similar specifications as that of HTC magic. What it differs with HTC Magic is, it comes with 5 megapixel camera with auto-focus, 3.5mm headphone jack, improved battery life and Adobe Flash support. What excites me is the HTC Hero’s new GUI overlay.

Much like Nokia N97 it allows users to keep content for daily use at fingertips on desktop- such as weather, contacts, photos, Twitter, Facebook, Flickr and bookmarks. HTC here seems to copy much from Nokia it seems, cause another feature a pure lift from Nokia’s Eseries- Switch is packed with a new name Work to weekend. So remove all email clients from your desktop on weekend.

HTC Hero also has a dedicated search. Like in MAC, cmd+spacebar and find anything from your contacts to file to whom you are chatting at the moment. This features looks cool & is much needed.

Got my HCT hero 2 weeks ago and I have to say, I am very impressed with it indeed. I bought a faster class 6 micro SD card and that’s smoothed the phone performance right out! HTC are working on a firmware update as we speak which will also iron out some of the initial glitches too… Love the way facebook and filckr are integrated with all your contacts! So glad I got rid of my iPhone
