HTC only recently acquired a majority stake in Beats Electronics for $300 million, but it seems like it was already working on a few devices powered by “Beats by Dr. Dre”.
Today, HTCInside leaked images and specifications of what seems to be one of the first new “Beats” powered smartphone by HTC – the HTC Vigor. The images were apparently posted on the website of a Dutch online retailer, but were taken down later.
The HTC Vigor seems to be the most powerful smartphone yet. It will come with a dual core 1.5 GHz Qualcomm processor, and presumably 1 GB RAM. It will run Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread with HTC Sense 3.5.
It will sport a 4.3 inch HD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, which is a huge improvement over the current range of smartphone displays.
Most interestingly, the HTC Vigor will come with Beats Audio integration, which should make it an audiophile’s dream device.
No pricing or availability details are out yet. Samsung has stolen most of HTC’s glory in the last couple of years, but with the HTC Vigor, HTC has a good chance at having the most powerful Android smartphone on the market yet again, if it releases it soon enough.
