HTC One S Now Available In India; Comes With Qualcomm S3 SoC Instead Of S4

HTC has finally released its upper mid-range One series handset in India, the One S. Sadly, the Indian variant of the One S comes with a different SoC that makes it less exciting. While the international variant of the One S packs a Qualcomm S4 processor clocked at 1.5GHz and an Adreno 225 GPU, the Indian version packs a 1.7GHz dual-core Qualcomm S3 SoC along with an Adreno 220 GPU. Even though the Indian One S might have a faster CPU, it is slower and a battery guzzler compared to the international One S.

Apart from the change in SoC, the Indian version of the One S packs the same specs – a 4.3-inch Super-AMOLED qHD (960*640) resolution display, 1GB RAM, 16GB fixed internal memory, no microSD card slot, FM radio, GPS with A-GPS, an 8MP camera with ImageSense and AutoFocus, Zero-shutter lag, F/2.0 aperture with a 28mm wide lens, a 0.3MP front camera and a bunch of sensors.

The One S has a stunning unibody construction, and runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with Sense 4.0 on top of it. Sadly, the handset’s non-removable 1650mAh battery and the less-efficient Snapdragon S3 processor will make sure that the One S lasts less than a day under normal-to-heavy usage.

The pricing of the handset is also a let-down with a street price of Rs 32,4999. Just for a few extra thousand notes, one can get the One X and the Galaxy S III, both of which completely smoke the One S.
