The HTC Hero got the official Android 2.1 update just a few weeks ago. Now, it seems that this will be the last Android update the Hero will get. The official Sprint account on twitter just tweeted that:
HTC EVO will be updated to Android 2.2; Samsung Moment & HTC Hero will not. Future devices launching with 2.1 will be also be updated to 2.2.
Now this tweet confirms that not only the HTC Hero, but also the Samsung Moment will not be getting the Froyo love. Only HTC EVO users can rejoice, as they will get the Android 2.2 update sooner, than later. Along with the HTC EVO, other Android phones launched in 2010 will get the Froyo upgrade soon.
Hero owners should not blame Sprint here. Sprint might be unable to provide the Android 2.2 update because HTC itself might have stopped supporting the device.
