Google recently launched a shockingly awesome service, Google Listen. As the name suggests it has something to do with audio files. And you guessed it right.

Well, Google Listen from Google Labs brings podcasts and web audio to your Android-powered device. It lets you search, subscribe, download and stream. By subscribing to programs and search terms it will create a personalized audio-magazine loaded with fresh shows and news stories whenever you listen. In this release Listen is indexing thousands of popular English-only audio sources.

The application looks very well planned in terms of usability and design. For now, Podcasts only in English language are available but I guess they would add other languages in future. You can also listen to the podcast using your AD2P Bluetooth headset.

Though this is a Google service, it’s available only on android based phones. I wonder, will Google make this service open for other mobile platforms? It would be great to syncronize your podcast directory with your other portable device or even desktop, for that matter, with your Google profile.

Google is slowly but steadily trying to wipe out Apple’s dominance in the mobile market. Do you think this would grow as big as iTunes?

Note: We discourage users from using keywords in their names while posting comments, most of them get caught by spam, also it really would be more fruitful in knowing people who comment by their real name, rather than by using a name no one relates to. In future we reserve the right to delete comments from users using a name other than their own.
