Forrester: Mobile App Internet Recasts The Software And Services Landscape

App Internet is a phenomenon that Forrester defines as “specialized local apps running in conjunction with cloud-based services” across smartphones, tablets, and other devices. A few weeks ago, I gathered a few insights on the same by Ellen Daley, Vice President at Forrester at the NASSCOM EMERGEOUT Conclave 2011.

The explosion of app innovation that started on the iPhone and then spread to Android devices and tablets will continue to drive tech industry innovation and have far-reaching pricing and go-to-market implications for software and services providers.

The App Internet market is big and growing and by 2015 would lead to $37 billion market for apps and $13.2 billion market for app services. App Internet will convert predominantly search behaviors to a subscription channel model.
