It was just a couple of days ago that we reported that Dell will be rolling out the Android 2.2 update for the Streak within this month. Now, Dell has officially released the Android 2.2 update for the Streak. The update comes in an OTA (Over-The-Air) form for the tablet-cum-phone crossover.

The Froyo update for the Streak will be first rolled out to unlocked devices. Carrier branded Streaks will get their share of Froyo love in phase two of the rollout i.e. late December.

The Android 2.2 update for the Streak will bring with it a new Stage UI along with Flash 10.1, Mobile hotspot, better memory management and performance improvements. Since the Froyo update will wipe clean the Streak from user’s data, Dell as released a Dell Backup & Restore application on the Android Market.

The application creates a backup of all the user data on the external memory of the device so that they can restore it later on.
