BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 Update Now Available For Download

Last year, Research In Motion (RIM) launched its first tablet device, the BlackBerry Playbook. It was the first device to run on the BlackBerry PlayBook OS. The worldwide sales of BlackBerry PlayBook was highly disappointing. The company also reduced the price of this device by 50% in most of the European, American and Asian markets, including the UK, US, Canada and India.

RIM recently announced the new BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 for the existing BlackBerry PlayBook owners. According to the company, the new BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 delivers an enhanced tablet experience and allows you to use the BlackBerry PlayBook in new ways throughout the day. BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 Features;

Integrated email client with a powerful unified inbox: The new BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 comes with a unified inbox that combines all messages in one place. You will not only find emails from your personal and work accounts, but you will also find messages from Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter in the unified inbox.

Social Integration with Calendar and Contacts apps: The built-in calendar collects information from social networks and makes it available where and when users need it. The contact apps gets the updated information from social networking sites and create a consolidated view of contacts.

Updated BlackBerry Bridge app: The unique BlackBerry Bridge allows you to connect the BlackBerry PlayBook and core apps on your BlackBerry smartphone, including the BBM, Email, Contacts, Calendar and Browser, so that you can view the content on the larger display. The updated BlackBerry Bridge app also provides a new remote control feature that allows a BlackBerry smartphone to be used as a wireless keyboard and mouse for a BlackBerry PlayBook.

Improved mobile productivity: The new BlackBerry PlayBook OS comes with an updated virtual keyboard with auto correction and predictive next word completion for more accurate typing. It also comes with an updated document editing functions, the new Print To Go app and BlackBerry Balance.

New apps and content: BlackBerry PlayBook users can now access thousands of Android apps on their BlackBerry tablet. The company also launched the new BlackBerry Video Store which will be initially available in the United States. The BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 also comes with enhanced web browsing capabilities.

The new BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 update is currently available as a free download for all BlackBerry PlayBook tablets. You will receive a notification on the PlayBook status ribbon as soon as the update is available for your device. You can also manually check for update under Software Updates in the settings menu.
