who rolls this out btw? – like is is it dependant on Provider, or you just need an internet connection and its done more like Windows Update style with a central google server?

@nathan – Whenever an update is available you will get a message on your phone saying that Android 2.2 Froyo is available or a similar message. If you decide to update your phone will download the update using the internet connection your phone is using. It is better to get the update done when you are on a WiFi network. The update can be rolled out by the provider or Google themselves. With Nexus One it is Google who is rolling out the updates.
