If you have updated to iOS 4.0.1 you can jailbreak iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 2G (non-MC model) using redsn0w 0.9.5 beta 5. The iOS 4.0.1 jailbreak won’t work for iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS or iPod Touch yet.
Here is some good news from the Dev Team, in addition to jailbreaking iOS 4.1 for iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 2G (non-MC model) redsn0w can also jailbreak iOS 4.0.1 on iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 2G. Users who have upgraded to the latest iOS 4.0.1 can jailbreak their devices using redsn0w 0.9.5 beta 5. The process to jailbreak will remain the same, however, users will have to point redsn0w to use the 4.0 IPSW (the public one, not the developer GM one) instead of iOS 4.0.1 IPSW.
This couldn’t get any more simpler for iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 2G users. We are expecting an iOS 4.1 jailbreak for iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch 3G soon too. Also don’t forget to Save your iOS4 SHSH Blobs to jailbreak iOS 4.1 in future, you can learn how to save iOS 4 SHSH blobs.
