VDownloader – Download Video From Youtube, MySpace, DailyMotion, Metacafe, and More

VDownloader is a small Windows application that tries to be a video addict’s favorite companion. The simple interface allows you to search several video sites, view the videos, then download and convert them to your favorite video format.
I first tried VDownloader nearly a year ago. Since then, I haven’t used it much. I was reminded about it when a friend of mine contacted me to let me know that it has a new home page.
Previously VDownloader was offered as a simple zip file that you could unpack and place on your PC. Now the author is offering it as a executable installation. I was actually happier with the zip file.
The first thing I noticed this time around was that the author would also like you to install a “Browser Sync” application. If you don’t want it, be sure to use the “Custom Install” option to skip installing it. I haven’t tried that app so I can’t recommend it.
They also install a shortcut to Ebay on your desktop. If you don’t want it, delete it.
Once you’ve installed and launched VDownloader the first time, you’ll see four icons on the left sidebar for Download, Search, Browser and Settings.
I recommend that you go to the Settings and set up your default download folder. Otherwise, you may have a problem finding your video files once you’ve downloaded them.
The search window allows you to type in search terms that help you discover new videos at your favorite video sites.
The Browser window actually lets you use a little web browser right inside of VDownloader. Buttons at the top of the window make it easy to download anything you find interesting.
The Download window shows you a history of all the videos you have downloaded and those that you are currently downloading.
You can save videos as AVI, MPG, iPOD/iPHONE, PSP, 3GP, NOKIA N8 [7]×0, VCD, SVCD, DVD, FLV or MP3 (audio only) and export videos to a mobile device.
All in all, I have found this application is pretty useful. Maybe you’ll like it to.
Problems? You can contact the author [8] of VDownloader.
Download VDownloader from Download.com [9] or from the author’s sites at vdownloader.com [10] or vdownloader.es [11].
