Colorhat can be used to to track the time spent on a particular online task easily. The task can be anything from writing a new blog post, downloading something or watching a video. The website acts as an online timer clock and you do not need to install any software or browser extension. (also read: personal time management software to track computer usage)

How to use Colohat

To use Colorhat, sign up for an account and log in to the Colorhat dashboard. Just create a task and you will be able to track how much time you have spent on it.

As soon as you have added the task, Colorhat starts tracking the time as the stop watch keeps on rolling. You can minimize the tracker and keep an eye on the time spent on that particular task.

You can find the time spent on a task from the new tab title and thus you do not have to switch to the Colorhat tab every now and then. You can pause the timer at any time and resume it later on. Colorhat keeps a history of all your tasks in an impressive timeline as shown below.

There aren’t any restrictions and you are free to add any number of tasks in any given day. The reports tab gives you detailed insights on how you spend your time on different projects, clients etc.

Techie-Buzz Verdict

The Colorhat tool serves the purpose well. However i would like to see more functions like: tracking a group project where more than one person is involved. If the developers can come up with an extension or a bookmarklet that shows the timer on browser status bar, it would be a great help.

Techie-Buzz Rating: 4/5 (good).

I like Colorhat. I have used Colorhat now for some weeks, and I’m surprised by the flexibility and how scalable Colorhat is.

@Amit: What are you meaning with “a bookmarklet that shows the timer on browser status bar” ?
