Unitech Wireless To Launch Its Network In Five More Circles

Unitech Wireless, which is a joint venture between India’s Unitech Ltd. and Norwegian telecommunication company Telenor ASA, has decided to expand its horizon with launching its service in five more circles. Unitech’s service, Uniror is presently available in eight circles in India mostly Southern India.

Unitech will next enter the service areas of Mumbai, Maharashtra, Kolkata, West Bengal and Madhya Pradesh. Unitech presently has a subscriber base of 2.5 million. Unitech said in a statement that Telenor has invested about INR 20.22 billion more in the joint venture as planned for a 7.15% stake, taking the Norwegian company’s total stake in Unitech Wireless to 67.25%.
