Samsung Launches The Galaxy S III In India With An MRP Of Rs 43,180

Samsung has launched its highly anticipated handset – the Galaxy S III in India at an event in New Delhi. India has always been one of Samsung’s strong markets, with both the Galaxy S II and Galaxy Note doing extremely well here. Thus, its not a surprise that the company launched the Galaxy S III in India so soon.

Unlike Canada and the United States, which will be getting a different version of the Galaxy S III, the Indian version will pack in the same specs as its European sibling. The Samsung Galaxy S III in India will come with a Exynos quad-SoC, an ARM Mali-400 GPU, 1GB of RAM, a 720p Super AMOLED HD screen, a super-fast 8MP camera, and some unique features like Smart Stay, All Share, Group Cast, S-Beam etc.

The official MRP of the 16GB variant of the handset is Rs 43,180. Yes, a whopping Rs 43,180 or roughly $860. Just a couple of thousand bucks more, and one can buy a decent two-wheeler in India for the same price. However, the street price of the handset will be much lower and a bit reasonable at around Rs 38,000 for the 16GB variant. Vodafone India has also tied up with Samsung and will be providing free 3G usage for six-months to all Galaxy S III owners.
