Samsung I9000 Galaxy S Released In India

The strongest Android phone currently on the planet, Samsung I9000 Galaxy S, has hit the Indian shores. The Samsung I9000 Galaxy S has the biggest Super AMOLED screen in the market with a size of 4 inches. The Galaxy S is available in two versions, 8GB and 16GB. But I have only seen the 16GB in the Indian market (Kolkata).samsungi9000

The Samsung I9000 Galaxy S has a 4″ Super AMOLED capacitive screen with WVGA (800 x 480) resolution. As usual, a 3.5mm slot is present. The phone has a inbuilt memory of 8GB / 16GB, depending on the version you purchase. The external microSD slot is expandable up to 32GB. The Galaxy S has a healthy 512MB RAM and 2GB ROM.

The Galaxy has supports both 2G (GPRS: Class 12 (4+1/3+2/2+3/1+4 slots), 32 – 48 kbps | EDGE: Class 12) and 3G (HSDPA, 7.2 Mbps; HSUPA, 5.76 Mbps) connectivity. Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n with DLNA support is also present. The Bluetooth version on Galaxy S is 3.0 with A2DP support.

The camera is the only weak point in Galaxy S along with the plastic build. The camera is of 5MP resolution with autofocus but no flash at all. The video is recorded at HD (720P) resolution at 30fps. A secondary camera for video chatting is also present with VGA resolution.

The Android version on Galaxy S is 2.1 (Eclair). The processor inside is one of the best in the market, ARM Cortex A8 Hummingbird processor with a clock speed of 1Ghz. The processor is based on 45nm fabrication process. Stereo FM Radio with RDS support is also present. GPS with aGPS and Digital Compass support is also present. The video player on Galaxy S supports codec like .avi, Divx, .mkv, which is excellent according to me.

The battery power is of 1500mAh Li-Po battery. The battery performance on Galaxy S is excellent, in fact second best after Samsung Wave. The Galaxy S is available in Black and Grey. The price of Samsung I9000 Galaxy S is INR 28500 (US $608). Our team will be reviewing the Galaxy S soon, stay tuned for our review.

    1. I’v purchased the idiot nokia 5800XM 1year back but till today I’m unable to establish network connect to my PC using OVI suite and BSNL 3G. Sites are opening in nokia 5800 but not in PC.I really can’t resolve this problem nor with the help of Nokia customer care or BSNL. But with my samsung Omnia I never call anybody for help. I’ll be greatful to you if you can do this. I think a mobile is not for listening to music in loud volume in public place or watching dam movie in 2″ screen. There is lot of things to do with it.

    2. dont even compare 5800…with samsung galaxy s…5800 dont even com close to it….samsung galaxy s is in a totally diferent league….

    1. Samsung I9000 has been a hit and is a hot seller in the Indian market. Please DO NOT compare mid range devices like Nokia 5800 with this because they cannot be compared at all.
Samsung I9000 is superior than 5800 in every aspect, the choice is only between high range and mid range.. People who want powerful smartphone and are ready to spend big, will go for Samsung I9000 Galaxy S.

      1. hi rahul i hv a samsung galaxy s.its better then nokia 5800 but i”m not satisfied bcoz weak battery .look like a palastic case without java…..i think htc desire is better then galaxy s………….i”m waiting 4 samsung galaxy s2 i hope s2 make with fully loaded smartphone.

        1. Without JAVA? What do you mean? You are the first person to complain regarding that. Battery needs to be managed well, I suggest to to read our review and contact the review author for suggestions.
          Cheers

          1. Hi Rahul Sir, I am tejas and I wanted to buy a samsung galaxy s i9000 16GB mobile with froyo 2.2 which has replaced eclair 2.1 and I am living in Pune,Maharashtra.
Can you guide me sir please……………

  2. i think as far galaxy and wave is concerned ,nokia 5800 is far best.image quality of 5800 is much better than both samsung phone.if any one go for touch screen 3g phone he should go for 5800.

    1. Gaurav seems that you don’t know anything about the phone technology…. hee hehe well its fine you can choose to stick with Nokia 5800 and mis lead others as well..:-P

  3. This looks a lovely phone, Only problem however there is no flash on the camera, but heyho !
The other thing is that I dont want a 2yr contract of £40 a month weighing me down, Big Shame !!

  4. lol…. :D Its a pity a that few people are comparing it with Nokia 5800.Galaxy rules. If anybody says 5800 is better than Galaxy, then I fear his knowledge of Gadgets and I doubt he has ever used Android and knows its limitation or powers.A whopping 8 GB/16 GB (internal memory) makes Galaxy a peace of mind. With all those excellent specifications its an excellent Phone, much much better than a iPhone.

Its internal memory (8GB/16 GB) is a huge advantage over other android Phones at this cost. With 512 MB RAM and 2 GB ROM, it should be easily upgradable to Android 2.2 (Froyo) and later versions.
If you have a budget for this price range.Just go for it.I promise you.You won’t regret it.

I wonder if somebody uses symbian after this ;-)

And Plz plz plz… Don’t compare this with Nokia 5800.It not even close to Galaxy.
Even Sony Xperia (nearly same prize range) seems to be behind Galaxy.(Xperia has 8 MP Camera , Galaxy – 5 MP) Except the camera everything is better in Galaxy comparable to Sony Xperia x10

Galaxy Rocks and will for a l long time. Thanks for a cool Phone Samsung. :-)

    1. dont get excited dear,THIS ONE IS TOO COSTLY PHONE AS THE BIGGEST DRAWBACK THAT UR SPENDING SUCH A HUGE AMOUNT AND THE PHONE DOESN’T HAVE FLASH.
I THINK SAMSUNG HAVE TO DO SOME MODIFICATIONS IN IT AS ITS RATES ARE SOO HIGH
      1. FLASH OPTION
      2. WIRELESS FM
      3. SPEAKER SHOULD BE OFF GUD QULAITY AS THE VOLUME IS NOT SO HIGH FOR THE RINTONES AND MUSIC.

  5. AT LAST I HAVE SAMSUNG GALAXYS CELL PHONE 10 ON 10 FOR EVERY FEATURE THAT THIS PHONE CARRIES NOTHING MORE CAN BE SAID YES I AM VERY HAPPY

    1. hye Amal kumar hw u can sy ur vry hppy without java .no fls weak battery backup ru sure oh no frnd i”m useing this smrtphn in mumbai alfa store Rs.27500.so cost….

    2. GUYS THIS ONE IS TOO COSTLY PHONE AS THE BIGGEST DRAWBACK THAT UR SPENDING SUCH A HUGE AMOUNT AND THE PHONE DOESN’T HAVE FLASH.
I THINK SAMSUNG HAVE TO DO SOME MODIFICATIONS IN IT AS ITS RATES ARE SOO HIGH

        1. :D :D ….. thumbs up for Big Daddy…… It is one of the cheapest phones if u take in to consideration all of its features …… 4 inch super amoled , 1gigs processor ….Flash is not an issue as it’ll be available once froyo update is released ….. only prob with not having flash is that the video play on a seperate videoplayer …. not too bad eh ….. plus iphone looks a piece of shite next to the SGS …. SGS is beautiful ….. The only thing it lacks is a camera flash and dedicated camera key ….. even that is not a deal breaker coz a camera flash is not that powerful on any mobile phone ….. no one in their right mind takes night time pics and expects anything but crap …..

    1. All people who are talking about JAVA are confused fellows. Galaxy S has ANDROID, all banks and other stuffs will definitely release their Android compatible apps if there should be any because of high demand and popular OS. If people meant to say that Galaxy S or other Android device doesn’t support JAVA applications, then let me remind you a smartphone doesn’t need cheap JAVA applications to run in it. Android market has over 70000 applications whose quality is million times better than JAVA apps. For info, all Android apps are made through JAVA codes.
      Cheers

  6. It excellent and we compare with this iphone is nothing. The power consumption is good. The brilliancy of photos are very good even though there is no flash. I am using this phone instead of my camera.
In all it is revelation in smart phones.

  7. It is a pain to manage SMS in Galaxy-S, specially when you have over 500 to 600 SMS stored in the phone. I was using Nokia communicator E90 and it had such wonderful folders to sort out messages in whichever way i wanted to keep them. I could store good jokes in a separate folder, Important SMSs in other and was able to create over a dozen folders to organize incoming and out messages.
There is no draft folder either. Tried looking for any widget of app on market but found none. Somebody please suggest a better way to keep messages than only by conversation only

  8. Smart phone user should understand to maximise use of ANDROID apps. Nokia reluctantly switches between OS and bit confused company. No doubt it has a big presence in India & china. But before buying smartphones, browse user reviews for more than 15 days and take decision. I have bought Samsung Galaxy i5801 which is slightly lower version to fit my bill. All Samsung Galaxy S Android mobiles can be mastered in nearly 10 days time. If some body is interested to use all features on same day, this is not a phone. In that category I salute designers of HTC & of course Motorola Milestone if I have more money. For me Samsung Galaxy is more than sufficient.
