Mobile broadband is eventually catching up in India, thanks to 3G. However, consumers in India are yet to experience the next-generation broadband technology which was showcased by Reliance Industries Limited in association with Ericsson India at the first field trial of LTE-TDD (Long Term Evolution) mobile system technology.

The trial showcased LTE-TDD network’s exceptional performance by achieving healthy balanced peak rates of 80 Mbps for downloads and 20 Mbps for uploads in the specified configuration/setup. The eco system capabilities were also showcased using ST Ericsson dongles connected over the air to the base station. Other applications such as HD Multimedia Streaming and LIVE TV was demonstrated with on-the-move vehicle speeds of 50 and 70 kilometers per hour!

With such high speeds on Mobile devices, consumers can now enjoy ultra-high data speeds for services such as internet TV, mobile video-blogging, online video games and the mobile office-environment.
