Given the massive growth of Mobile users in the country, The National Payment Corporation of India is launching an instant mobile payment service (IMPS) that will enable retail customers of seven banks to enjoy inter-bank funds transfers – 24 hours a day & 7 days a week.
Soon, Long queues of customers at bank branches to transfer money may become a thing of the past. If IMPS catches up with the users like Facebook did, then in the long run, customers may not have to worry at all for change to pay auto/ taxi fare and the neighbourhood vegetable vendor. The mobile phone will take care of everything.
As of now the seven banks which will be able to provide it’s customers with IMPS are State Bank of India, Bank of India, Union Bank of India, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank and YES Bank.
Apart from these 7 banks, 22 more banks are in the preliminary phase of getting ready to provide their customers with the IMPS. Utmost care has been taken to make sure that the mobile banking application runs on all handsets – be it low-end or high-end.
Nokia Life Tools is a service from Nokia that offers a wide range of agriculture information and education services through SMS to Indian users. Customers will be directed to a page where they can choose their favorite number from among an exhaustive list of prepaid/postpaid connection numbers
Customers can proceed to pay online via Credit/Debit card
Customers can even select the tariff plan that suits your needs. The prepaid connection card will be delivered to the customer with in 24 hours of purchasing it from Vodafone eShop. A duly filled application form will be collected from the customer along with the necessary address & identity proof. The connection will be activated post acceptance of the relevant documents. This service is currently available only for customers in Mumbai circle.

LG’s most popular Android phone to date, the LG Optimus One P500 has been launched in India. It is now available for just Rs. 13500, which makes it one of the best budget Android phones in India.

Earlier this month, Tata Docomo started their 3G services in India. Few days ago, Airtel and Reliance also announced their 3G services in India. Both Airtel and Reliance will start their 3G services before the year end. And now Aircel has joined the bandwagon of the announcement of 3G services.
Aircel recently announced that, it will start its 3G services in 140 cities across 13 circles in January-February 2011, with an investment of $500 million and would invest another $500 million to expand its 2G network across the country. Aircel has won 3G license for 13 telecom circles in India Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kolkata, Kerala, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh (East), West Bengal, Jammu & Kashmir, Bihar, Orissa, Assam and North East.
If you are an Aircel customer, then you may have to wait for a couple of months to enjoy 3G services in your 3G enabled smartphones. Tata Docomo already launched their 3G services in India. On the other hand Reliance, S-Tel, Idea and Airtel will launch their 3G services before the year end. Vodafone and Aircel are the only operators, to launch their 3G services early next year.
