Google Play Books Goes Live In India

Earlier today, Google’s Play Books service went live for Android users in India. Play Books will allow users to purchase and read eBooks right on their Android device.

The whole Play Books service is tied with the Play Store itself, thus if you have already added your Credit or Debit card details to your Google Wallet, you are all set to start buying eBooks from the Play Store.

The Play Book does have a vast library of eBooks available including some of the classics and nearly all the books from Indian authors. While users can grab some of the Books for cheap on Play Books compared to say Flipkart’s eBook service, some books are comparatively much costlier than their print edition.

It is quite surprising that Google launched the Play Books service first in India, and not its other two popular Play Services – Music and Movies. Hopefully, it will also launch Play Music and Movies in India soon.

Apple’s iTunes Music store went live in India back in December last year and allows you to buy music and rent or purchase movies directly.

Asus Memo Pad ME172V Launched In India For Rs.9,999

Last month, Asus introduced the entry-level Memo Pad ME172V tablet. Today, the Taiwanese manufacturer launched the same tablet in India. This device looks strikingly similar to the extremely popular Asus Google Nexus 7. However, the specs of Asus Memo Pad is not on a par with the Nexus 7. This tablet runs on the Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) Operating System. It comes with 8 GB of internal storage and packs a MircoSD card slot for those who want to store movies, music and large eBooks.

Asus Memo Pad ME172V features a 7 inch display, sporting a resolution of 600 x 1024 pixels, Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) OS, 1 GHz single-core VIA WM8950 processor, Mali-400 GPU, 1 megapixel front-facing camera for video calls, 1 GB RAM, 8 GB internal memory, MicroSD card slot, 32 GB expandable memory, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, microUSB 2.0 and a 4270 mAh non-removable battery. Asus Memo Pad ME172V comes with a price tag of just Rs.9,999 (approx. $185). This device will compete with the Acer Iconia B1 and other entry-level Android tablets in the Indian market. The Acer Iconia B1 has a powerful dual-core processor, however the Asus Memo Pad comes with 1 GB of RAM and a better battery life.

BlackBerry Z10 Launched In India For Rs.43,490

Last month, BlackBerry unveiled the new BlackBerry 10 Operating System and introduced two new smartphones — the full touchscreen BlackBerry Z10 and QWERTY + touchscreen BlackBerry Q10. Huawei Ascend G330 Launched In India For Rs.11,490

Along with the Ascend G600, Huawei has also launched the Android powered Ascend G330 smartphone in India. This handset comes with entry-level specs including a 4 inch display, 1 GHz dual-core processor, 512 MB RAM and much more. Sadly, the device is being shipped with the out-dated Android 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich) Operating System. We are not sure if the manufacturer will upgrade this device to the newer version of Android. Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.1.2 Premium Suite Update Available In India

Samsung India has started rolling out the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update for the Galaxy S3 in India. While the jump from Android 4.1.1 to Android 4.1.2 does not bring any new major features, Samsung has taken this opportunity to bring a truck loads of features to the Galaxy S3.

Galaxy S3 users can now enjoy Multi-Windows multitasking as originally seen on the Galaxy Note 2. This feature will allow Galaxy S3 owners to simultaneously use two apps on their screen. Other new features that have been ported from the Galaxy Note 2 include an enhanced camera app with a new Night mode, a new Gallery app, Group Cast, Paper Artist, Smart Rotation, Page Buddy, the ability to customize the notification toggles, and much more.
