Idea Expands Its 3G Services In Maharashtra And Goa Circle

Idea Cellular has recently expanded its 3G services more than 10 major cities and 100 other towns in Maharashtra and Goa circle. Tata Docomo was the first private operator to launch the 3G services in circle. Apart from Tata Docomo, other private operators like Vodafone and Airtel has also started offering 3G to their customers in Maharashtra and Goa. Idea 3G services are currently available 10 major cities and 100 other towns including Pune, Nagpur, Nashik, Goa, Kolhapur, Solapur, Aurangabad, Ahmednagar, Akola, Nanded, Shirdi, Shrirampur, Jamkhed, Pathardi, Loni, etc.

Speaking about the expansion of 3G services, Mr. Rajendra Chourasia, Chief Operating Officer – Maharashtra & Goa, Idea Cellular said, “Idea has been continuously enhancing 3G coverage across the state by adding sites every day, making us the highest penetrated 3G operator in the circle. Maharashtra is our oldest and biggest circle, and we will continue to build on this leadership on 3G services as well”.

Idea has already added nearly 5 lakh 3G subscribers in Maharashtra & Goa. Even the Gold Standard 3G services by Idea has received phenomenal response in the circle. Idea Cellular is currently offering its 3G services to both prepaid and postpaid in Maharashtra & Goa, Mumbai, Gujarat, Karnataka, AP, Tamil Nadu & Chennai, Delhi, Haryana, UP West, UP East, Bihar, Kolkata, Kerala, MP, Rajasthan, West Bengal, North East and Assam.

Idea offers high-end data services such as Video Conferencing, IdeaMall Application Store, Mobile TV, Video on Demand and high-speed internet browsing. MTS Launches Color Handset And Free MTS To MTS Calling For Just Rs.699

Most of the people in India can’t afford a Samsung Galaxy S II or the Google Nexus S. They just need a basic phone with voice calling capabilities to stay connected with their friends and families. Beetel Magiq Android Tablet Launched In India For Rs.9,999

Reliance 3G Tab Launched; Runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread

We had reported that Airtel was planning to launch its Android tablet – the Beetel Magiq – just a couple of weeks back. The Beetel Magiq was supposed to be priced at Rs 8,900, making it one of the cheapest Android tablets in India.

Today, Reliance announced the launch of its own tablet – the Reliance 3G Tab.

The Reliance 3G Tab is a budget Android tablet which runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread. It will sport a 7 inch display, presumably with a capacitive touchscreen and a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels.

It will have 512 MB RAM and will likely come with a 1 GHz processor, like the Beetel Magiq. It weighs 389 gms and is similar to the Samsung Galaxy Tab when it comes to dimensions.

It will sport a 2 MP camera, and a lower resolution secondary camera for video calling. It comes with support for 3G, as well as GPS. It supports up to 32 GB microSD cards.

Coming to the best part, the Reliance 3G Tab is priced at just Rs 12,999, which makes it one of the cheapest Android tablets in India. It will also come with discounted 3G plans, which you can check out below.

Airtel does not have the 3G licesnse in Maharashtra and Goa circle. Airtel has mutually signed an Intra Circle Roaming Agreement (ICRA) with private operators such as Idea and Vodafone. Airtel will offer 3G services to its customers in this circle by using the Idea’s 3G services. Airtel 3G services are currently available across all major parts in the region including Pune, Nashik city, Nagpur city & Goa state.

Karbonn Launches the A1, Budget Android Smartphone at Rs. 6,999

Karbonn A1Karbonn Mobiles has launched a new Android smartphone – the Karbonn A1. it is a budget Android smartphone priced at Rs. 6,999. It is quite similar to the Micromax A60, which was one of the first budget Android phones in India.

The Karbonn A1 comes with a 2.8 inch resistive touchscreen display with a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels. It runs Android 2.2 Froyo, and it’s unlikely to get an upgrade to Gingerbread.

It has a 3.2 MP camera and is powered by a 600 MHz processor. It also offers 3G and Bluetooth. Karbonn plans to launch three new Android smartphones by Diwali, priced under Rs. 10,000.

Karbonn currently has a 5% share of the Indian mobile handset market. It’s aiming for 10 million handset sales for the year. It is also planning to raise close to $125 million to fund its expansion plans.

We are looking at raising $125 million to fund our expansion plans. This will be done through PE investors and we will finalise plans in the next quarter. By the end of this quarter, there should be clarity on how we are going about it,said Karbonn Mobiles Executive Director, Mr Shashin Devsare.

Personally, I wouldn’t touch the phone with a stick. But if you want an Android smartphone in that budget range, you don’t have many other options.
