Olive To Launch Cheap Android Phones In March

Recently, we posted that, Intex is planning to launch the cheapest Android phone after the popular Micromax Andro. And now, Olive joined the bandwagon of companies manufacturing cheap Android phones in India. According to the folks at Telecom Yatra, Olive is set to launch the Android 2.2 (FroYo) powered phones in India during Q1 of 2011.

Olive Telecommunications was the first company to launch a 3G Android tablet in India, the Olive Pad. The chairman of Olive Telecom, Arun Khanna, recently said that, Olive will launch Android powered phones in the first week of March. He also said that the company will not launch a single Android phone, but a complete range of Android phones.

Micromax is the first Indian company to launch an Android phone in India, the Micromax Andro. It is also the cheapest Android phone currently available in India. Not only Olive, but other Indian manufacturers like Intex and Wynncom also promised to launch Android powered phones in Q1 2011. According to the rumors, Olive will also launch smartphones with big touchscreen displays, which will compete with Samsung Galaxy S and Apple iPad in the Indian market.
