While most Android fans in India are anxiously waiting for Motorola Milestone (Droid) and Sony Xperia X10 [1], LG has quietly launched [2] GW620. LG GW620 is a full QWERTY handset powered by Android 1.5 (Cupcake).

LG’s first Android offering in India boasts of a 5-megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, Push E-mail, Social Networking Service Manager and GPS.

The phone is obviously aimed at budget conscious users wishing to get a taste of Android. The GW620 will be competing directly with the likes of HTC Tattoo and Samsung Galaxy [3] Spica. Although the ancient version of Android used in GW620 is a cause for disappointment, one can’t really complain since very few Android phones are available at its price point. Let us hope that LG will issue an update at some point of time in the future.
