Last month, Micromax launched the cheapest Android phone, Micromax Andro in India. Wynncom and Olive also promised to launch Android phones soon in India. According to the folks at Telecom Yatra, Intex Mobiles will soon join the bandwagon and will launch the cheapest Android phone in India.
After the successful launch of Intex V.SHOW, India’s first projector phone, Intex will launch the cheapest Android phone for around Rs.5,500. This handset will be powered by Android 2.2 (FroYo) OS and it is expected to launch in February 2011. Currently Micromax Andro is the cheapest Android phone in India. It comes with a price tag of Rs.6,999.
“Intex will launch four more models of V Show – a mobile phone with built in projector, which was recently launched. The new models of V Show will support Office applications and therefore be useful for professionals. People who want to watch movies, videos, picture galleries and even read e books on their mobile phones will also find some interesting applications in the new model. We will launch an Android 2.2 phone in the first week of February and it will priced at around Rs 5,500”, said Sudhir Kumar, Assistant General Manager of the telecom division at Intex.
The Intex Android phone will come with a 2.8-inch resistive touchscreen display, 3.2 megapixel camera, GPS and Wi-Fi Connectivity. Android powered Huawei Ideos is also expected to launch early next year in India for around Rs.8,000.
