Airtel, India’s largest cellular network provider, has announced that it will launch the Apple iPhone 4 in India by October, just in time for the Diwali season.
It was announced earlier today that the iPhone 4 will be available in 17 more countries on July 30, but there was no mention of India in that list. Soon after that, Bharti Airtel was planning an iPhone 4 launch by October.
“We are working with Apple. Hopefully, we will launch it in the September – October timeframe”
said Bharti Airtel CEO, Sanjay Kapoor, after a CII conference.
The iPhone 4 will most probably be priced upwards of Rs. 40,000 in the Indian Market. The prices of the two iPhone 3GS models will likely be slashed from the current prices of Rs. 35500 and 41500 for the 16 GB and 32 GB models respectively.
The iPhone 4 is that latest iPhone by Apple which comes with the new iOS4 and sports some really good hardware. It has a 1 GHz Apple A4 processor, 512 MB RAM and 16 GB / 32 GB storage. It has an excellent 3.5 inch retina capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 640 x 960 pixels and a 5 MP camera with autofocus and LED flash. It has been plagued with signal reception problems lately.
