Amitabh Bachchan Files Police Complaint against Abusive Commenter

Amitabh-BachchanCelebrity bloggers are a common specimen in both Bollywood and Hollywood. However, very few blog with the sincerity of Amitabh Bachchan. The Indian film industry legend, pens his thoughts almost daily at the BigB blog hosted by Blog Adda.

While the open platform provided by blogs offers a great way to communicate and connect with fans, the anonymity offered by the Internet also encourages mischief makers. Apparently one individual has been targeting Mr Bachchan and using the blog to submit derogatory and abusive comments. The concerned individual has also been sending abusive SMS messages for several months.

In an attempt to put an end to the matter, Mr Bachchan has filed a formal complaint with the cybercrime cell. This is what he had to say about this incident:

There is a serious effort by a member that writes and comments on this blog to use language and expression that is abusive, filthy and utterly disgusting. I have brought this to the notice of the authorities and corrective measures to see none of the stuff that comes from this foul mouthed individual shall ever be allowed on this platform. Any further attempt from this person shall now be under legal cyber space action, now very prominently activated in this country. Further more. This individual has been sending me the most unprintable abuse on sms on my phone. I have after great tolerance for many months now reported the matter to the police and they will be taking serious punitive action, not just in my country but in the country of the origin of these missives.

This blog, this platform, this home for our extended family members is a sacred and revered destination and any attempt to defile it shall be dealt with in the most severe manner.

Police officials claimed that they are yet to receive a complaint. However, in typical fashion, they promised to keep an eye out for further offenses.

Researcher Who Exposed Vulnerabilities in India’s Electronic Voting Machine Arrested

Recently, a group of researchers, Hari Prasad, Rop Gonggrijp and J. Alex Halderman, demonstrated serious security vulnerabilities in the electronic voting machines (EVMs) being used by India. The EVMs, which were introduced by the Election Commission in 2004, were found to suffer from serious weaknesses that can be used by anyone with physical access to manipulate the outcome of the election. In spite of working demonstrations by the researchers, the Election Commission still maintains that the EVMs are secure and tamper proof.

Unfortunately, being ignorant and blind isn’t the Indian government’s biggest crime. Halderman revealed in a blog post that his colleague, Hari Prasad has been arrested by the police. The authorities appear to be interested in uncovering the source who supplied the voting machine to the researchers. Halderman maintains that the voting machine was supplied by an anonymous source who had rightful access to it. The EVM in question was earlier reported as stolen by the Collector’s office at Mumbai.

On inquiring with the officials there, it was learnt that Waimuru brought the machine himself and the channel had nothing to do with it. It was also learnt that Waimuru had gone to Nashik earlier this year. He met a local leader and a social activist there who gave him the machine. Moreover, it came to light that a government official believed to be working in the Old Customs House had given the said machine to the local leader,an official informed DNA. Hari Prasad has been remanded to the police custody till August 26.

While the Indian police is quite possibly well within its rights to try and track down the source of the leak, there is a real possibility that the government is simply trying to silence its critics. The researchers exposed the Election Commission and broadcasted their ignorance, incompetence and stupidity to the world. I can’t help by notice that the government is being more proactive in closing the source of leak than rectifying the serious problems plaguing the EVMs.

Kerala IT Firms Mark Nordic Countries For Future Growth

While most IT professionals and companies are busy with building links and ties with US based clients for growth and future business, the small and medium IT enterprises in Kerala are however taking a different route altogether. The Group of Technology Companies (GTECH) in Kerala has identified the 4 Nordic countries – Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland as markets for future business where potential growth of the IT companies from Kerala is possible.

The US and the UK still are the current targets for the Kerala IT industry, however due to the gradual economic slowdown in these countries there is a possibility of a cut on the IT spendings of companies located there. This makes the need to look at newer markets even greater.

So Why  The Nordic Countries?

These countries viz. Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland  face demographic challenge and cost pressures to sustain their economic growth which is in turn dependent on cutting edge technology and innovation as with any sector located in any country in this world. The Kerala IT industry could play a critical role in sustaining the competitiveness of these economies by offering cost effective and quality solutions in the  emerging sectors like clean technology, health and life sciences.

TVS Launches Bharat Keyboard with Indian Rupee Symbol

TVS-Gold-BharatMost of us weren’t expecting keyboard manufacturers to adopt the new Indian Rupee symbol until it got approved by the Unicode Consortium. However, TVS clearly had other plans. Barely a month after the symbol was unveiled, the popular keyboard manufacturer has released TVS Gold Bharat – the first keyboard to incorporate India’s new currency symbol.

As suggested by its name, the Bharat keyboard is optimised for Indian users. LittleAbout blog is reporting that the keyboard, which works on both Windows and Linux, also supports typing in Indian languages like Marathi, Hindi, Kannada, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Gujarati, Assamese and Malayalam.

TVS is known for building sturdy keyboards, and TVS Gold Bharat is no different. It has cherry mechanical switches that have been laser etched to withstand rough usage. The Gold Bharat is available for Rs. 1,495. However, if you don’t want to buy a new keyboard, you can also use the Rupee font we recommended earlier.
