In the past we have told you about tools that will allow you to create GIF animation files [1] and convert video files to GIF animations [2], however what if you want to extract frames or images from a GIF file?

Turns out that there is a Freeware [4] tool called GIF Frame Extractor which will allow you to extract individual frames from a GIF Image.
To extract individual frames from GIF images, open the image using GIF Frame Extractor and select the frames you want to extract from the left column.

Once you have chosen the image frame you want to extract, click on the save button and that individual frame will be saved separately, pretty simple and easy right.
GIF Frame Extractor is a standalone portable software [5], so you can drop it on your flash drive and use it on any computer.
