Did you ever know Microsoft had a GIF Animation software? Well neither did we, but we came across it and could not help but write about it. This software was created and written for a very, very old Windows operating system, which many of you may not even have heard of, it was called Windows 95. According to wikipedia:

Microsoft GIF Animator is a historical computer software program for Microsoft Windows to create simple animated GIF files based on the GIF89a file format. It was freely downloadable from the Microsoft Download Center, but is now only available on third party download sites. It was also bundled with Microsoft Image Composer and Microsoft FrontPage.

microsoft-gif-animatorMicrosoft GIF Animator lets you create GIF animations for free, but only supports two formats, one of them being GIF and another one being AVI files, if you are looking for more elegant solutions to convert any file to GIF animations, you may want to check out our post on how to convert video or other file formats to GIF animations.

Though this software is not longer available from Microsoft, unless you are a registered MSDN user, you can still download and enjoy this vintage software.

Don’t blame us if it does not work as expected, after all it was written for a extinct operating system.

P.S. I learnt my ways through Windows using Windows 95, and I must tell you that it was a much really good back then.

Note: We discourage users from using keywords in their names while posting comments, most of them get caught by spam, also it really would be more fruitful in knowing people who comment by their real name, rather than by using a name no one relates to. In future we reserve the right to delete comments from users using a name other than their own.
