Jailbreak Your iPod to Speed It Up
By on August 17th, 2012

If your iPod Touch 2G is slow, you NEED to jailbreak your iPod to speed it up. Jailbreaking will not harm your iPod, it will just allow you to install custom apps that let you speed up your iPod and make it awesome!

To jailbreak your iPod Touch 2G:

Download Green Poison. Make sure to select the 4.2.1 version if you’re running 4.2.1, or select the 4.1 version if you’re running 4.1
If you’re on Windows run as administrator.
Open Green Poison
When you see a dialog box about Apple TV, select no.
Plug in your iPod to your PC/Mac then turn it off.

Now you get to jailbreak your iPod Touch. First, press “Prepare” to initiate the program. Next. hold the power and home button for 10 seconds, then let go of the power button and hold the home button for 10 seconds. Green Poison will now jailbreak your iPod Touch 2G. It will take a few minutes, so go grab a drink! You may see some weird white code on your screen, which is normal.

Once it has finished the jailbreak, you can unplug your iPod from your PC or Mac. Now you must go to your iPod Touch and select the “Loader” app. Once the Loader app has appeared, select Cydia and it will install Cydia which is the appstore for jailbroken users.
Now open up Cydia. Select Manage, then click sources.
Add the following source: http://repo.insanelyi.com

Now that you have installed this source, go to the search and firstly install “Speed Intensifier.” Speed Intensifier is an application which will speed up animations which makes your iPod feel blazing fast. Secondly, install “Remove LaunchDaemons.” This will remove unecessary startup tasks which only iPhones need, increasing the speed of your iDevice’s bootup. Thirdly, download a Cydia package called “lang2ez.” This Cydia package will remove all language packages other than English, which will give you a great speed boost.

Lastly, download an Cydia package called “iFile.” This lets you access the iPod’s file system and make changes. Once you have installed iFile, launch it and do the following:
Go to /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app and delete the following files:
