Many a times we may want to know where a website is hosted and due to non disclosure from the site itself will be unable to do so. Who Is Hosting This is a service that allows you check who is hosting a particular website.

All you need is the URL of the site you want to check the host for. You enter it and click the tell me button, within a few seconds you will be shown the results as to where the site is exactly hosted.

Why is this useful?

Not all users are happy with their current hosts and want to switch, using this service you can check which users are using which hosting services. You can create a nice little list and compare which host is preferred by the majority, thus making your decision to switch hosts easier.

It is highly desirable that before moving to a particular host you make the right decision and this nice little service just helps you towards your final decision of choosing the best host for your website.

Here is what the output of your query will look like;

whoishostingthis

BTW I will be moving shortly from DreamHost to a dedicated server from my friend, it may take 1-2 more weeks or more than that :-) , you can look up my new host using this service.

Do you think this service will be useful to you? Do let me know through your comments :-) always looking forward to them.

    Hey Rajesh,

    WhoIs service is much better, but this is just a dedicated service for finding out who is hosting a site.

    Keith-
    Did you face any problem with dreamhost? I just recently moved into dreamhost that is the reason I am asking this question?

    I read those pages and even subscribed to their RSS. Are you moving out because of these issues?
    Till now by blog did not have a big downtime from them. They are definitely better than my previous host.

    There have been a bit of downtimes of late, the reason why I decided to move is because of that. Yups they are better than many of the other ones. But I am moving to a dedicated server from my friend, it sits in COLO in NY and we will both maintain it.

Note: We discourage users from using keywords in their names while posting comments, most of them get caught by spam, also it really would be more fruitful in knowing people who comment by their real name, rather than by using a name no one relates to. In future we reserve the right to delete comments from users using a name other than their own.
