A new set of weight management and Type II Diabetes supplements have been released to the market due to the research work of Professor emeritus, Michael Zemel of University of Tennessee, Knoxville. The professor is touting two new all natural products in pill form and is marketing them under the new company he created called NuSirt Sciences Inc. NuShape is the name of his weight management product and NuControl is a product developed to help with blood sugar control.
Zemel will be the first to say that this is no magic pill. Instead he says, “this is a product that will work with you. We ask that you add about fifteen minutes a day of moderate physical exercise over and above what you already do. That should burn about 100 calories. With NuShape, you will burn an extra 400 calories a day.” The product is a result of a study that was done at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. It contains a combination of an amino acid called leucine and vitamin B6. In the study, “Effects of a Leucine and Pyridoxine-Containing Nutraceutical on Fat Oxidation, and Oxidative and Inflammatory Stress in Overweight and Obese Subjects“, Zemel showed that a neutraceutical referred to as NuFit containing 2.25g leucine and 30mg pyridoxine (Vitamin B6) “significantly increased fat oxidation and insulin sensitivity, and reduced oxidative and inflammatory stress”.
In the video embedded below, you can hear directly from Professor Zemel about the product.
I contacted the University of Tennessee to see if they were endorsing this product. Their representative said, “We are not endorsing the product. We are just helping to announce it. The research was conducted by our professor while he was at UT. He retired in June from UT to become a professor emeritus and is now focusing on his private venture, NuSirt Sciences based on the research he conducted while at UT.”
NuShape sounds like a very promising and well designed supplement to assist with weight management, and the NuControl product does as well. Of course, I always recommend that you discuss any supplements with your doctor first. It probably wouldn’t be a bad idea to direct them to the study linked above when you discuss it with them. It’s always best to play it on the safe side. For more information about NuSirt products, visit http://nusirt.com/.
