Google to sell video ads online
heard of pay per click now you may also have pay per video soon, google is launching the click-to-play video advertisements today, this service will be avialable to advertisers in the us, canada and japan at launch.
vistors who visit sites where google's adwords are displayed will have complete control over the video, including playing, pausing, stopping and having control over the audio etc.
when a visitor reaches a site where such video ads are displayed, only a static image as you see above will be displayed and the user can then control the other variations of the video.
the video ads will have the same capabilities as the current ads and the user can click on the link to directly visit the advertisers website.
the theory is that most of the youngsters today are hooking on to the internet more than they are watching television and these ads will be for those audiences, well i do believe that the internet is making a dent into the televsion viewers and more and more people are reading news, listening to music and ofcourse watching videos online.
its quite obvious that these ads will be costlier than the regular ads and will defnitely be a bigger source to the already ad-fed google revenue.
as i saw on cnbc yesterday an interview with google ceo eric schmidt saying that the ad market will one day slow down on the web, but it may take a week, a month, a year or also a decade and it can't be predicted.
i definitely feel with such innovative new things, google will still be a ad-fed billioniare for some time more to come.read the google adwords official blog for more information.
