Google has released a new API for developers to mashup data from google search results in a website.

The Google AJAX Search API is an experimental API that lets you integrate a dynamic search module into you web pages so your users can mash up Google search results with other content on your site or add search results clippings to their own content.

The Google AJAX api, lets user's search for data and then allows you to add the same into the site, in this way they can mashup multiple sites search results in one page. What this will help in is getting different infomation and sorting them out to from a mashup of multiple results.

The results that are currently returned are from Google web search, Google video search and Google blog search.

Clicking on copy below each results will copy the results to the empty right area, just like in the screenshot above.

Google has started to release lots of API's in the past few weeks, starting with the Google Web Toolkit to build ajax applications in java, Google adsense api for developers and now this Google AJAX search API.

The AJAX Search API is currently in Version 0.1. It's an experiment designed to get developer feedback and may change dramatically over the next several months, so you shouldn't deploy this on your mission-critical web site just yet.

Google will officially launch Version 1.0 which can be used on websites, it will likely require code changes to your site running Version 0.1. Version 1.0 will also likely contain advertising.

The API is a free beta service, available for any web site that is free to consumers. Please see the terms of use for more information.

You will have to signup for a Google AJAX search API key to start using the API.
