Google Chrome OS May Arrive In Mid-October
Google Chrome OS is a much-awaited product from Google. Early this year in July, Google had introduced about their product in their blog. Google Blog stated the following about the OS,
Speed, simplicity and security are the key aspects of Google Chrome OS. We’re designing the OS to be fast and lightweight, to start up and get you onto the web in a few seconds. The user interface is minimal to stay out of your way, and most of the user experience takes place on the web. And as we did for the Google Chrome browser, we are going back to the basics and completely redesigning the underlying security architecture of the OS so that users don’t have to deal with viruses, malware and security updates. It should just work.
This open source software is mainly targeted at netbooks. However, it is also compatible for PCs. It was scheduled for release to the public use in 2010.
Nevertheless, there are rumors that it may come to the market in this month only (mid-October or end of October). Now, this is exciting news for Google lovers out there.
Very recently, PC World, a popular tech magazine told that there might be chances of getting Google Chrome OS, built-in with Loongson laptops from China. Shanzai.com, a Chinese hardware blog said that there are chances of getting Google Chrome OS based devices in the mid-October or so.
However, Google has not reacted for any of these rumors. So, let us just wait and watch what happens and be glued to the updates.

Open Source means that the considerable premium operating system software commands on the purchase price of a netbook (and trust me, pc’s & laptops soon enough) will not apply, making mobile computing so much more affordable.
The Chrome OS will be tweaked by enthusiasts all over the world, and I am sure that it will not take too long before it offers a fully viable OS solution for desktop computers and notebooks too.

Is Chrome OS supposed to compete with the Microsoft and Apple operating systems or is it merely an online platform? I presume the Google Chrome OS will support printers and other plugin devices, which means manufacturers would need to create drivers. I like the idea of an operating system that competes with Microsoft, but it will be interesting to see if it really can compete in the real world environment.
