Orions 2 for iOS
Game: Orions 2: The Deckmasters
Developer: MoreGames Entertainment
Publisher: Chillingo Ltd.
Available for: iPhone & iPod Touch
The long awaiting sequel to the best Trading Card Game (TCG) for an iOS device is here. If you haven’t played or heard of the first edition of Orions before, then you’ll have a double treat. The magical visual effects, intense gameplay, and more than 100 cards in its roster, set Orions 2 apart from other games in its genre.
There is not major difference between its predecessor and the new version. The gameplay is the same. What makes it better is the addition of a number of cards to its already vast deck, improvement in gameplay and visual effects, and mainly the online Multiplayer mode (using Game Center).
The game has 2 modes: Single Player campaign, and Duel (with Bot or Human). The Single Player mode involves capturing small islands which you travel between using a small air balloon that you’re in control of.
Single Player Campaign Mode
Cards take the form of elemental symbols, and in each category, there’s a mix of monsters, spells and abilities that can be called into play with an earth, air, fire and water theme. The artwork on these is nicely detailed, and each and every character and element is well balanced to give non-biased gameplay.
Controls are fairly easy. The player’s decks are laid out as tiny icons, and from these, you can pick your cards, move them into place, and then begin to use their abilities in each combat round. At the end of your turn, the enemy player takes over, and you’ll soon find out how effective your attack or defense is, and how good your giant spider is when faced with the mighty Kraken.
All in all, I would personally rate this game 9/10. I gave it 1 point less because of the battery drainage and heating issues which I faced on my iPhone 4.
