Back in April, Toshiba announced the Excite 7.7 tablet featuring a 7.7 inch display, 1.5 GHz quad-core processor, 1 GB RAM, 32 GB internal memory, 5 megapixel rear camera, 2 megapixel front-facing camera for video chat and much more. Later in June, this handset was finally shipped with the old Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) Operating System.
Toshiba is not known for rolling out updates in a timely manner. But the manufacturer surprised us by rolling out a major update for the Excite 7.7 tablet. You heard it right! After waiting for nearly 8 months, Toshiba finally started rolling out the Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) update for the Excite 7.7 across the world.
The latest update is numbered JRO036 and it comes with Hybrid UI and other important Jelly Bean features such as Google Now, Project Butter, offline text-to-speech, improved overall performance, smart keyboard, improved voice search, enhanced notifications, improved power management, advanced notifications, improved Face Unlock and more.
The size of the update is 348 MB and it can be downloaded via Over-The-Air (OTA). As usual, we advise you to backup all of your data and completely charge the battery before upgrading the device. If you still haven’t received this update, then just go to Settings > About > Software Updates and check for the update.
