Our Kickstarter Pick: Stage5 Dock is the first Smartdock Controlled by a Mobile App
By on May 30th, 2014

The Stage5 is a compact smartphone dock that features a vibration speaker technology, turning any surface it’s placed on into a high quality surface speaker. The Bluetooth dock can sync with any Bluetooth-enabled music player, and can be controlled via a mobile app. stage5_smartdockAccording to the founders, the idea of multifunctional smartdock came while they were trying to find a docking station which had an acoustic system, looked good, and at the same time was reasonably priced. Most docks in the market support only one smartphone brand and do not have a sound system or just a weak one.

The multifunctional dock supports most of the smartphones and tablets – all iPhones, iPads and any smartphone or tablet with a standard Micro USB port. In addition, you can listen to the music by connecting it to any other Bluetooth-enabled device that plays music. Using the vibration speaker technology, Stage5 turns any resonant surface into a high quality surface speaker. While a traditional speaker sends sound waves in a certain direction, with Stage5, every time you change the surface, you will get a new and unique sound.

stage5_dockMade of aviation grade aluminum, the dock weighs only about 400g and features a touch-sensitive power button. The dock will be available in a variety of colors – clear coated glossy or bead blasted and anodized matte finish. The angle of the dock makes it convenient for video calls and Skype-ing. Stage5 packs in a built-in battery allowing you to enjoy up to 3 hours of music without plugging it in.

The bottom of the dock is made of micro suction rubber that allows vibration speaker to transfer sound with greater efficiency. It also ensures that dock doesn’t move when undocking your device. While the rubber sticks to surfaces, it doesn’t leave any residue when removed.

stage5_appThe Stage5 app is in the works and will be available for iOS, Android, and Windows Phone. The app will allow auto connection and standby settings and shows battery charge status. You will also be able to specify the applications that are allowed to use vibration speaker for alert sounds. You can save and load specific settings for different devices. The included equalizer settings allow improving the sound by tuning different frequencies.
