HTC Flyer Announced; Runs On Android 2.4 Gingerbread

Along with a bunch of handsets, HTC also announced their first tablet the HTC Flyer at MWC 2011. The HTC Flyer has a 7-inch screen with a 1024×600 resolution.

The tablet is powered by a blazing fast 1.5 GHz single core CPU from Qualcomm. The handset also packs 1GB of RAM along with 32GB of internal memory.


The tablet will be made of aluminum and will weigh in at 415grams. The back of the Flyer features a 5MP camera with AF (Auto-Focus) while there is a 1.3MP camera in the front. The Flyer also supports HSPA/WXDMA network along with quad-band GSM support.

The usual Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Accelerometer, Gyroscope, 3.5mm audio jack, microSD card slot and all other relevant sensors are also present. It will also have a microUSB port for docking, charging and connecting to PC purposes. The Flyer will ship with a pressure sensitive capacitive stylus Scribe as well.

The tablet will run on Android 2.4 Gingerbread when launched. According to HTC, there are not much has changed visually in Android 2.4. The Flyer will also have a tablet optimized version of Sense UI on top of Android 2.4. The tablet will be powered by a 4000mAh battery which will provide users with up to 4 hours of continuous video playback.

The Flyer will hit the retail stores sometime in Q2 of 2011. HTC did not mention anything about the pricing of the tablet though.
